Origin and history

The castle of Bernadets is a monument located in the commune of the same name, in New Aquitaine. Its construction spans a period from the last quarter of the eighteenth century to the first half of the nineteenth century. This building illustrates the architecture of this pivotal period, marked by stylistic transitions between the Ancien Régime and the early decades of modern France.

At that time, provincial castles like Bernadets often played a central role in local life. They served as residences for wealthy families, while sometimes linked to agricultural or administrative activities. In New Aquitaine, a region marked by a rural economy and growing trade, these buildings reflected the social and economic dynamics of their time.
