Origin and history
The Château de Lisle is a seigneurial house built in the 18th century in the commune of Lisle-en-Rigault, in the Meuse department, in the Grand Est region. This monument, now privately owned, illustrates the aristocratic residential architecture of this period, marked by sober lines and a spatial organization adapted to the uses of the era. Its state of conservation and its history make it a representative testimony of the seigneurial residences of Lorraine.
The castle has been the subject of protection measures for historical monuments. The unclassified parts of the house were registered by order of 18 February 1992, while its interiors, considered remarkable, were classified on 29 April 1994. These protections highlight the heritage value of the building, both for its exterior architecture and for its interior decorations, preserved despite its status as a private residence.
Available sources, including the Merimée and Monumentum bases, confirm its precise location at 24 Cour du Château, in a rural setting characteristic of the Meuse. The Insee code of the municipality (55296) and its historical attachment to Lorraine (now Grand Est) complete its territorial anchor. No information is available on possible characters related to its construction or history, or on any significant events taking place there.
