Origin and history

The Château de Nuchèze is an emblematic monument of the commune of Champdeniers-Saint-Denis in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Dating from the 15th century, it embodies the medieval architectural heritage of this rural area, marked by defensive and residential constructions of this time. In the 15th century, castles in this region often served as seigneurial residences while playing a role in the local social and economic organization.

They were symbols of power, but also places of life and management of the surrounding lands. Their presence reflected the feudal hierarchy and dominant agricultural dynamics.
