Origin and history
Grand-Rullecourt Castle is a building built between the last quarter of the 17th and 18th centuries. Located in the commune of Grand-Rullecourt, in the department of Pas-de-Calais (Hauts-de-France), it represents an example of civil architecture of this period. Its facades and roofs, as well as those of the communes, were inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 15 June 1989, highlighting their heritage value.
The monument is now owned by a private company. Although its current use (visits, room rental, guest rooms) is not specified in the available sources, its inscription bears witness to its historical and architectural importance. The location of the castle, at 3 Place du Château, is attested by GPS coordinates, with an accuracy deemed satisfactory (level 7/10).
At that time, the Hauts-de-France region, and especially Pas-de-Calais, was marked by a rural economy and seigneurial structures. Castles, like Grand-Rullecourt, often played a central role in the local social organization, serving as a residence for elites and a symbol of power. Their architecture reflected the stylistic evolutions and cultural influences of their time.
