Origin and history

Bogenet Castle is a building in the municipality of Pionnat, in Creuse, New Aquitaine. Its square structure is marked by three round towers of various sizes, placed at the ends of the house and at the inside corner. Inside, a monumental fireplace carries the arms of the Dissandes family, who owned it after the Martins of Biencourt and the Lejeunes of Freslanges. The estate covers 17 hectares, including meadows, woods, three ponds and an annex to Chassogne.

In 1979 the property was bequeathed to the association AJD Bosgenet, which runs it from a foster home for children and adolescents. The castle is located at Bosgenet, about 1.8 km north of the village of Pioneerate. Its architecture and local history make it an important part of the Creuse heritage.
