Origin and history
The Château des Fontaines, located in Gahard en Ille-et-Vilaine, is a building built from 1450. He originally belonged to the family of Pierre Landais, treasurer of the Duke Francis II of Brittany. Today, only a 16th-century chimney remains, classified as a historic monument since 1926.
The castle was transformed into a farm in the 19th century, marking an evolution of its use over the centuries. The current ruins bear witness to its historical importance, although few architectural elements survived.
The inscription in the historic monuments in 1926 preserved this vestige, highlighting its heritage interest despite its fragmentary state. The site remains a testimony of Breton medieval architecture and its adaptation to future agricultural needs.
