Origin and history
The Château de Laplaud, located in Oradour-sur-Glane, is an ancient rural noble house built at the end of the 18th century. This house, built in a classic style, incorporates elements of an earlier building dating back to the first half of the seventeenth century. Its architecture reflects the influence of the classical tendencies of the time, while keeping traces of its older past.
The building of the castle is attributed to Mathurin Brousseaud, entrepreneur and master carpenter, whose work marked the current structure. The interior decor was made under the Restoration, adding a touch of post-revolutionary elegance to the building. This mixture of periods gives the castle a particular historical richness.
The château de Laplaud has been partially protected since 1995, with an inscription covering the main façade, the central staircase, and an attic in wooden strips. Today, the site hosts private events, visits by appointment, and tourist activities, while preserving its architectural and historical heritage.
