Origin and history

Saint-Pierre d'Amblie Church is a Catholic church located in the Calvados department, north of the village of Amblie, near Ponts sur Seulles. Built in the 13th century, it is a typical example of Norman medieval religious architecture. Its western portal, particularly remarkable, was classified as historic monuments on 19 November 1910, while the rest of the building was listed on 12 April 1927.

The monument is now owned by the municipality of Amblie. Although its official address is associated with Amblie, its geographic location specifies the location in the immediate vicinity of Ponts sur Seulles, as indicated by the GPS coordinates available. The church, always visible, retains architectural elements characteristic of its construction period, although some sources mention a precise location considered 'a priori satisfactory' but perfectable.

Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, highlight its heritage importance in Calvados. The building is referenced in specialized databases such as Mérimée, and its history is documented in works such as the Monumental Statistics of the Calvados d'Arcisse de Caumont (1846). These references attest to its role in the religious and architectural landscape of Lower Normandy, now integrated into the Normandy region.
