The archaeological site (Box AD 22): inscription by decree of 9 September 2011
Origin and history
The Dolmen de Peyre de l'Homme, located on a plateau near Durbans, is a megalithic monument dating from the late Neolithic or Chalcolithic era. It is distinguished by the imposing size of its architectural elements and their remarkable, though partial, state of preservation. The partially preserved funeral chamber and the orthostats covered by the tumulus illustrate its historical importance.
The structure is inserted into a circular cairn, while its outer envelope reveals traces of reshaping, condemnation and reuse over several millennia. These changes reflect an extended occupation and use of the site well beyond its initial construction period.
Ranked as a Historic Monument by order of 9 September 2011, the archaeological site (cadastre AD 22) is protected for its heritage value. Its location, although documented (Insee 46090, Lot, Occitanie), remains approximate, with an accuracy assessed as "a priori satisfactory" according to available sources.
