Origin and history

The site of the Fosse is an 18th century hydraulic art work, located in Coulmier-le-Sec (Côte-d'Or, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté). It is distinguished by its exceptional state of conservation, including all the facilities related to its use: pits, wells, sheep pens and stone huts. These structures illustrate the agricultural and hydraulic techniques of the time, adapted to the needs of rural communities.

Ranked Historic Monument by order of November 14, 2017, the site is fully protected, including its three enclosures with their walls and cabin. The property is shared between the municipality and private owners. Although its GPS location is approximate (accuracy noted 5/10), its official address is listed in the Merimée database under the code Insee 21201, attached to the commune of Coulmier-le-Sec.

No information is available about its accessibility to the public, its possible tourist functions (visits, rentals, accommodation) or its precise role in local history beyond its hydraulic and pastoral use. Sources are limited to Monumentum data and internal archives, without reference to historical events or associated characters.
