Parcel F 156: inscription by order of 17 July 1995
Origin and history
The archaeological site of the dolmen 1 of the Bourines is located in the commune of Bertholène, in the department of Aveyron, in the Occitan region. This megalithic monument, characteristic of neolithic funeral buildings, is part of a set of two dolmens, of which only the first is still partially preserved. It was officially recognized for its heritage value by an inscription for historical monuments in 1995, thus protecting the Parcel F 156 on which it is located.
The dolmen of Bourines No. 1 contrasts with the dolmen no. 2, today ruined, highlighting the fragility of these ancient remains. The approximate location of the site, near the Way of the Monks, suggests a possible link to historical roads or medieval religious routes, although this hypothesis is not confirmed by available sources. The monument belongs to a private company, which can influence the conditions of access or preservation of the site.
The inscription of the dolmen in 1995 reflects a desire to preserve a rare archaeological heritage in Aveyron, a department rich in prehistoric sites. However, the information available remains limited, in particular on its precise dating, exact use or any on-site searches. The sources mention only its legal status and location, without details of its history or discovery.
