Origin and history
The Amory tomb, located at Nouvron-Vingré in the department of Aisne, is a commemorative stele erected after 1918. She paid tribute to the Amaury-Lacareux family, shot by the Germans on September 20, 1914, and to their son, who died of hunger and cold. This monument, exceptional by its civilian character, was financed by the 298th, 328th and 42nd Infantry Regiments.
The grave stands out as one of the few examples of a monument dedicated to the civilian victims of the First World War. It symbolizes the repression suffered by local people under German occupation. It was listed as a historical monument in 1998 and bears witness to a tragic and unknown episode of the conflict.
The monument is located in the communal territory of Nouvron-Vingré, in a rural context marked by war violence. Its official registration (Decree of 30 January 1998) underlines its heritage and memorial importance. The stele, sober, contrasts with the more numerous military monuments, recalling the fate of civilians in the occupied areas.
