Origin and history
The Boussac turret house, listed as a Historic Monument, is a rectangular building built between the 15th and 16th centuries. Its openings were redesigned in the 18th century, and it is flanked by two turrets at east and west angles. A straight flight staircase, housed in a square building body adjacent to the east corner, serves the floors. Its architecture suggests that it could have housed the stewards of the nearby castle, although this hypothesis is not confirmed by written sources.
The facades and roofs on Rue de la Cure, as well as the fireplaces and decor of the two rooms on the ground floor, have been protected since a registration order of 22 December 1986. The house is located at 4 rue de la Cure, in the commune of Boussac, in Creuse, Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Its GPS location is considered to be of poor accuracy (note 5/10), and its exact address corresponds to cadastral data (section AI, parcel 147).
The building illustrates the architectural evolution between the Middle Ages and the modern era, with residual defensive elements (tours) and subsequent developments reflecting the tastes of the eighteenth century. The openings at this time show an adaptation to the new standards of comfort and light. No information is available on its current use (visit, rental, accommodation).
