Origin and history
The Templar Tower of Condom, classified as a Historical Monument, dates from the 13th century. From a square plane, it has been profoundly modified to become a home: the ground floor, the first and second floors have undergone transformations (drilling of doors and windows, addition of a balcony), while its hollow tile roof has altered its original silhouette. Only the upper part remains intact, marked by a geminate window and crenellated walls, whose merlons still support the frame.
The tower has been protected since 1926, with an inscription concerning its facades. Although its primitive appearance was partially denatured, the preserved defensive elements (cranels, merlons) testify to its medieval origin. Its official address, 3 Marge Street in Condom (Gers), and its approximate location (1 Bossuet Square) reflect its anchoring in the historic centre of the city. The accuracy of its geographical location is considered a priori satisfactory (note 6/10).
No information is available on its current accessibility (visits, rentals, accommodation). Sources are limited to Monumentum data and internal archives, without mentioning sponsors, specific historical events, or characters associated with its construction or past use. His name evokes the Templars, but the source text does not confirm any direct connection with this religious order.
