Its official inscription dates from 1 February 1934, by ministerial decree. This status specifically protects the structure of the tower, emphasizing its heritage importance in the city.
The monument is located at the 28th wharf of the Line, although approximate GPS coordinates also place it near 58 Boulevard de la Ligne. Avignon, the emblematic city of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, has many historic buildings linked to its medieval and religious past. Towers, such as the Quai de la Line, could play a defensive, symbolic or utility role (monitoring, storage). Their preservation bears witness to the local attachment to a built heritage marked by centuries of history, even when their original function remains poorly documented.
