Origin and history

Toury Castle is a historic building located in the commune of Neuvy, in the department of Allier, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. From the beginning of the 13th century, it was mentioned as a castle and one of the four main baronies of Bourbonnais, emphasizing its strategic and political importance in this medieval region.

The castle belonged to Anne de Beaujeu, a notable figure in Bourbon's history. He is also famous for having welcomed Jean de Meung, who composed part of the Roman de la Rose, a major work of medieval literature. These elements demonstrate its military, residential and cultural role in the Middle Ages.

Today, Toury Castle remains a symbol of Bourbonnais' architectural and historical heritage. Although the available sources do not detail its further development, its association with influential characters and literary works makes it an emblematic monument of the region.
