Origin and history

The sections of the Roman roads of Juvanze are archaeological remains located in the commune of Juvanze, in the Grand Est region. These remains bear witness to the presence of road infrastructure dating back to Roman times, although their precise dating is not mentioned in the available sources. The partial retention of these data allows us to study the construction techniques and communication networks of this period.

In the Greater East region, Roman roads played an essential role in trade, military travel and cultural exchanges. These roads linked cities, camps and villages, thus facilitating the integration of conquered territories into the Roman Empire. Although little specific information is available on the Juvanze sections, their existence illustrates the strategic importance of these axes in the organisation of the territory in ancient times.
