Origin and history

Delle's turret house is a historic monument located in the fortified old town, mainly dating from the late 16th century. Several architectural elements, such as the mouling of old bays or the southwest corner turret, attest to this period and the high social status of its original owners. These details reflect a careful construction, typical of bourgeois houses of the time.

In the 18th century, the house underwent major renovations, incorporating interior elements characteristic of this period, such as carpentry, panelling, chimneys and a fragment of wall decoration painted in grey. Used as a presbytery until 1948, it illustrates the evolution of civilian buildings in small fortified towns. Its inscription as a historical monument in 2012 protects the entire structure, now owned by the municipality.

The location of this house on 3 rue des Écoles in the Territory of Belfort highlights its integration into the historical urban fabric of Delle. Although the accuracy of its location is considered mediocre (note of 5/10), its architecture and history make it a remarkable testimony of the bourgeois habitation between Renaissance and modern times in Franche-Comté.
