Cross road located at the exit of the village : inscription by decree of 28 February 1927
Origin and history
La Croix de chemin de Saint-Martin-la-Méanne is a historical monument located in the Corrèze department, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It is precisely at the exit of the village, on the commune of Saint-Martin-la-Méanne, and was listed as a Historic Monument by decree of 28 February 1927. Its exact location is reported at 7 Rue de la Croix Patte, although the accuracy of its location is considered poor (note 5/10).
The cross-roads, frequent in the French countryside, often served as spiritual or commemorative landmarks for travellers and local residents. In regions such as Limousin, these monuments were generally linked to religious and community life, marking gathering places or prayer points. Their presence reflected the importance of the Christian faith in the social and cultural organization of villages, especially in times when the Church played a central role in daily life.
