Origin and history
The villa Collignon, nicknamed "le Roc Fleuri", is located in the district of Sables-d'Or-les-Pins, in the commune of Fréhel, in the department of Côtes-d'Armor (region Brittany). Built in 1925, it is distinguished by its hybrid architecture, combining classical influences (symmetry), art deco, and some regionalism. Its centered plan, roof terrace, and facades in granite and concrete mollens reflect this stylistic diversity. The villa includes a basement floor, a raised ground floor, and a square floor with balconies at four angles.
The Villa Collignon is the work of architect Pol Abraham, who has been able to merge several architectural currents into this project. Its partial inscription in historical monuments, by order of 8 August 1995, specifically concerns facades and roofs. This ranking underscores its heritage importance in the Breton architectural landscape of the 20th century, particularly for its innovative and eclectic approach.
Located on the driveway of the Golden Genêts, the villa is situated in a seaside setting, typical of the resorts developed between the two wars. Its style reflects the aesthetic aspirations of the time, between modernity and attachment to local traditions. The materials used, such as granite, anchor the building in its natural environment, while marking a break with older buildings in the region.
