Origin and history

The villa of Andon, located in the Magagnosc district of Grasse, was built during the second half of the eighteenth century, a period marked by a local economic boom linked to the development of the perfumery industry. This area illustrates the architecture and way of life of the Fatasian elites of the time, with gardens arranged around 1770, reflecting the influence of popular landscape models.

Together, including the villa, its outbuildings and gardens, has retained its original appearance with very few subsequent modifications. Only a terrace, added in the 1930s, and a water pool-mirror, built in 1965, break the historical uniformity of the site. The gardens, classified as Historic Monument in 1995, are remarkable for their walls, factories, fountains and hydraulic installations, witness to the techniques and aesthetics of the eighteenth century.

The classification by decree of 12 October 1995 protected the facades, roofs and all the landscape and hydraulic elements of the estate. Today owned by a private company, the villa in Andon remains a rare example of the conservation of a heritage linked to Grasse's economic age, although its access to the public or its current uses (rents, visits) are not specified in the available sources.
