Origin and history
The Geneste villa, located in La Teste-de-Buch, was completed in 1969 by architect Yves Salier. Situated in height with an open view of the Arcachon basin, it is distinguished by its modern style, marked by beams, poles and white concrete terraces. Its rectangular plan organizes the spaces on two levels: a ground floor dedicated to the bedrooms and an upper floor housing a large open volume, where only the kitchen is partitioned. The terraces, partially girding the villa, reinforce its integration into the landscape.
The villa's architecture is based on a game of crossing vertical and horizontal lines, creating a dynamic aesthetic. On the lower level, the oblique north and south walls frame the rooms, while the living room, in height, has a terrace on three sides. The villa, its garage, fence and plate floor (excluding the swimming pool) were registered in the Historical Monuments by order of 18 February 2011, recognizing its heritage value.
The location of the villa, at 14 avenue de l'Observatoire, offers an exceptional setting facing the pool. Although its geographical accuracy is considered "passable" (note 5/10), its sloped location and visual opening make it a remarkable testament to the modern residential architecture of the 3rd quarter of the 20th century in New Aquitaine. No information is available on its access to the public or possible reuse (visits, rentals, etc.).
