Origin and history

The Hubert villa is an iconic late 19th-century building located at 7 rue Hubert-Colombiar in Vichy, in the Allier department. It is part of a private real estate complex designed between 1897 and 1900 by Hubert Colombier, local banker and batnier. This project included a main villa, the villa Jurietti, as well as several other villas intended for rent, including villa number 7, recognizable by its classic style marked by an alternation of curved and triangular frontons.

The ensemble formed a private road, sanded and closed by a chain, reflecting the prestige and exclusivity sought by the thermal bourgeoisie of Vichy at that time. The Hubert villa, in particular, illustrates the eclectic architecture and urban development linked to the golden age of spas, where elites built secondary or rental residences.

The villa was partially classified as historical monuments on 2 May 1988, with specific protection for its facades and roofs. This ranking underlines its heritage importance in the architectural landscape of Vichy, marked by the influence of local architects such as Percilly, mentioned as a masterpiece. The whole remains a testimony of the urban and social ambitions of the late 19th century in this famous spa town.
