Origin and history
The Jacob villa is an iconic building dating from the 1st quarter of the 20th century, located at 3 rue Hubert-Colombiar in Vichy, in the department of Allier (region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes). It is part of a real estate complex designed as a private, closed and sandy road, including the main villa Jurietti and other rental villas of various styles. Its architecture combines structural classicism and ornaments inspired by medieval vocabulary, such as the small figurative caps supporting the archvolts of the windows, or alternating brick and stone bands on the facade.
The ensemble was commissioned between 1897 and 1900 by Hubert Colombier, a stickman at the Court of Cusset and owner of the Vichy bank. He wanted to create an exclusive residential space, reflecting his social status. The villa Jacob, with its gable and carved details, stands out for its artistic finesse while remaining functional. It was partially protected as historical monuments in 1988, with an inscription covering its facades and roofs.
Official protection, by order of 2 May 1988, underlines the heritage value of the building. The preserved elements (facades and roofs) testify to the eclectic architecture of the era, combining historical references and innovation. The architect Percilly, mentioned as the project manager, helped shape this project, although little details of his method or other achievements are provided in available sources.
