Origin and history
The villa Mon Plaisir, located at the 4 quai d'Allier in Vichy (Allier, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes), was built in 1894 by architect Pelisse. This building illustrates the eclectic architecture of the late 19th century, combining polychrome bricks and white stone, with neo-Renaissance decorative elements such as arcades, frontons and consoles. Its style reflects the opulence of bourgeois residences of the Vichyssian thermal era.
The villa is distinguished by its asymmetrical composition, with a gable house flanked by a false square turret housing the main entrance. This architectural bias, combined with an elaborate carved decoration, makes it a remarkable example of local heritage. The tympanes and contrasts of materials underline the influence of historicist currents then in vogue among the regional elites.
Classified as a historical monument by order of 4 March 1991, the villa Mon Plaisir bears witness to Vichy's golden age as a worldly spa. Its inscription recognizes the heritage value of this building, representative of the villas built during the last quarter of the 19th century for an easy clientele attracted by thermal cures and seaside recreation.
The available sources (Wikipedia, Monumentum) confirm its exact address and its architect, E. Pelisse, master of this project. The accuracy of its location is assessed as satisfactory (level 6/10), and photographs licensed under Creative Commons document its current state. The villa remains an urban marker of Vichyssois thermal history, now protected and studied.
