Origin and history

Villa Saint-Jean is a house located in Saint-Martin-de-Seignanx, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. Built in the second quarter of the 20th century, it is distinguished by its architecture signed by the Gomez brothers, Louis (1876-1940) and Benjamin (1885-1959), two local figures of architecture of the time. This building reflects the stylistic trends of its time, mixing modernity and elegance.

Villa Saint-Jean was listed as a historic monument in 2007, recognizing its heritage value. This protection highlights its importance in the architectural landscape of the Landes, while preserving its heritage for future generations. The details of its construction and history remain partially documented, but its official status makes it a key element of local heritage.

At the time of its construction, the New Aquitaine region, and more particularly the Landes, was experiencing a period of architectural development marked by the emergence of bourgeois residences and villas. These constructions often reflected the economic and social development of the region, as well as the influence of the artistic and technical currents of the early twentieth century. Villa Saint-Jean is part of this context, illustrating the know-how of local architects and the aspirations of a changing era.
