Origin and history
Villa Weiherstein, also known as Villa Weyerstein, is a historic villa located in Sarrebourg, Moselle department (Great East). Built in 1880, it replaced a former Dominican convent and initially served as a residence for the local brewery. Its architecture and park, including a pond and well, reflect the bourgeois industrial style of the time.
The facades and roofs of the villa have been partially protected since 16 September 1983, the date of its inscription in historical monuments. Today, the park is accessible to the public, while the villa remains a private property. Its history is linked to the economic boom of Saarburg in the 19th century, marked by the brewing industry.
Villa Weiherstein illustrates the Mosellan architectural heritage of the late 19th century, combining religious heritage (the former convent) and industrial development (the brewery). Its registration in 1983 underlines its heritage value, while preserving a green space open to the local population.
