Origin and history

Villefranche-de-Lonchat is a former mansion built in the middle of the 19th century. This building, typical of bourgeois architecture of the period, is distinguished by its carved facades and its neat interior decoration, still preserved today. It illustrates the residential style of the local notables of this period, marked by a search for elegance and symmetry.

In 1909, the house was reassigned to town hall, reflecting the changing administrative needs of the municipality. The building, fully protected by a 2015 order, also includes its wing, fence walls, garden and terraced house. These elements reflect the importance attached to the preservation of the communal heritage and its historical framework.

Located in Dordogne, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, this town hall embodies the central role of public buildings in small rural communes. Its inscription in the Historical Monuments highlights its architectural value and its anchoring in local history, while providing an overview of 19th-century lifestyles and social organization.
