Origin and history

The castle of Beauregard, located in Asnois in the department of Vienna, is a fortress built probably in the second half of the 16th century. The building, built with a single jet, has a homogeneous architecture despite some modifications in the 19th century. A leak, located below, completes the architectural ensemble.

This castle belonged successively to the family of Monfrébeuf, then to the family of Fleury after the marriage of Marie-Charlotte de Monfrébeuf with Louis-Charles de Fleury in 1761. Marie-Charlotte, the only heir of her family (his two brothers being priests), passed on the estate to the Fleury. The castle has been partially listed as a historical monument since 29 September 1987, especially for its escape.

The construction, typical of the fortresses of the period, reflects the defensive and residential needs of the local nobility. Its inscription in the title of historical monuments underlines its heritage importance in the New Aquitaine region, and more specifically in the Department of Vienna.
