Origin and history
Ferluc Castle is a historic monument located in the municipality of Drugeac, in the department of Cantal, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Located on a promontory, it overlooks the surrounding valley and embodies the typical architecture of Cantalian rural castles. Its history extends from the 14th century, marked by a medieval tower, until the 17th century, with the addition of a more recent house body. The bays, the carved door and the interior decorations (woodwork, woodwork) bear witness to this dual temporal influence.
The castle was listed as historical monuments by order of 3 December 2001, thus protecting the entire building, including its terraces and interior elements. Composed of two adjoining buildings — the medieval tower and the house of the seventeenth century — Ferluc preserves a largely original structure and interior fittings. Its geographical isolation and hybrid architecture make it a representative example of the local castral heritage, between defensive heritage and residential adaptation.
Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, highlight its role in the historical landscape of the Cantal. Although the archives do not mention specific characters or events related to the castle, its inscription as Historic Monument confirms its heritage importance. The accuracy of its location is considered satisfactory (level 7/10), and photographs licensed under Creative Commons document its current state.
