Seigneurs de Crenon - House sponsors The noble family behind its construction

Origin and history

The mansion of the Seigneurie is a medieval building located in Maigné, in the current department of Sarthe, in the Pays de la Loire region. Built in the late 14th century, it bears witness to the seigneurial architecture of this period, marked by defensive and residential structures. The mansion is associated with the lords of Crenon, the local noble family that commissioned its construction.

The facades and roofs of the mansion were listed as historic monuments on 17 February 1928, recognizing its heritage value. This classification protects the most representative architectural elements of the building, preserving its historical authenticity. The mansion is part of the landscape of the castles and manor houses of the Sarthe, a region rich in medieval heritage.

The monument is mentioned in specialized works, such as The Heritage of the Communes of the Sarthe (Flohic Éditions, 2000), which reference it among the remarkable sites of the department. Its sheet is also available in the Mérimée base, dedicated to the French architectural heritage, confirming its historical and cultural importance.
