Origin and history

The Blanzat Castle, located in Blanzat in Puy-de-Dôme (Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes), is a house built in the 4th quarter of the 18th century by the architect Attiret. Its architecture, first neo-classical, was modified in the 19th century by adding a climax to the French, giving it a look close to the 17th century castles. The facades retain their original ordinance, while the interiors (scaling, living rooms, alcove room) reflect the epochs of construction and overhaul.

The park, enclosed with walls, features an orangery and winding alleys inspired by the English style. These landscaped amenities, such as interior decorations (painted ceilings, panelling, historic bathroom), testify to the aristocratic tastes of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The castle, including its garden, gate and orangery, was registered with the Historical Monuments by order of 7 October 1991, recognizing its heritage value.

The sources also mention its ranking as Remarkable Garden, highlighting the harmony between architecture and its vegetal setting. Although the archives do not specify the original sponsors, the 19th century transformations suggest a desire to adapt the castle to romantic aesthetic canons, while preserving its neo-classical heritage. The exact location, 256 rue de la Libération, and its Insee code (63042) confirm its anchoring in the local heritage of Puy-de-Dôme.
