Origin and history
Bulhon Castle, located in the municipality of the same name in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, is a reconstructed building at the end of the 18th century. Although its origins date back to a medieval base, its current structure and interior decoration mainly reflect the styles of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The monument, classified among the Historical Monuments, preserves significant architectural elements such as an old kitchen with well, a large vestibule, and a library.
The castle, including its park and several remarkable rooms (round lounge, dining room, management room), was registered by order on 7 February 1994. The architect Claude-François-Marie Attiret is associated with its design. The park, which is freely accessible in August, offers an overview of the original landscape environment, while the interior scenery shows the evolution of tastes between two centuries.
The location of the castle, specified at 7 rue dufour in Bulhon (Puy-de-Dôme), is subject to geographical documentation deemed satisfactory (note 7/10). This monument thus illustrates the transition between the medieval heritage and the architectural transformations of the late Old Regime, while integrating later 19th century developments.
