Origin and history

The Château de la Pinsonnais is a historic residence located in Nozay, Loire-Atlantique, whose origins date back to the 16th century. Mentioned as a noble house from this time on, it was passed on to Jehanne d-Achon, wife of Jan du Fresche, in the early seventeenth century. A 1633 confession then described its buildings and lands, attesting to its local importance.

In 1691, the estate entered the Hochedé family, which added its name to it. The 19th century marked a major transformation: the addition of a wing, the redevelopment of the communes and the construction of a chapel in 1886. These modifications now combine ancient structures and more recent elements, such as tufted facades or adorned skylights.

The castle park, treed and structured, is home to charming alignments and an if with plums from China, ranked among the remarkable trees of the department. These landscaped elements, combined with the castle's corner window, bear witness to a preserved architectural and natural heritage.

Historical sources, including the work of Jean-Benoît Heron and Alain Gallicé, as well as the 2017 departmental inventory, document its evolution. The castle thus illustrates the history of the genthommières of the country of Nantes, between medieval heritage and modern adaptations.
