Origin and history

Courvalain Castle is a building built in the late eighteenth century. Located in the commune of La Chapelle-Saint-Rémy, it embodies the architecture of this period, marked by classical influences and a transition to more sober and functional styles. At that time, the Pays de la Loire, the region where the castle is located, was characterized by a rural society and a mainly agricultural economy.

The castles of this period often served as residences for wealthy families or the local nobility, while playing a role in the social and economic organization of the surrounding territories. Their construction also reflected the technical and aesthetic developments of the time.
