Origin and history

Mornay Castle, located near the village of Bonnat en Creuse (New Aquitaine), was built in the 16th century by the Mornay family. This square housing body, with two square towers and two round towers, illustrates the residential architecture of the period. The estate, surrounded by a 40-hectare park, included now partially preserved farm bodies.

In the 17th century, Sylvain de Mornay, lord of Bonnat in 1674, marked the history of the place by marrying Gabrielle de Noblet. The castle changed hands at the beginning of the 19th century, bought by Count Jules Henri Beaufranchet. In 1855, his nephew undertook important restorations to preserve the building and its estate, adapting the buildings to the uses of the era.

In the 20th century, the castle park underwent an original transformation with the creation of an automobile circuit in the 1990s. Inaugurated in 1997 by Pierre Petit, this circuit, specialized in piloting courses and private testing, offers nine runway configurations (1.1 to 3 km) in the middle of a wooded setting. The estate now houses a fleet of various vehicles, combining historical heritage and modern sports activities.
