Origin and history

Le Logis de la Touche is a former noble house built in the commune of La Limouzinière, in the Loire-Atlantique department, in the Pays de la Loire region. This monument, dating back to the 15th century, bears witness to the aristocratic residential architecture of this period. It was built for the Du Chaffault family, a high-ranking line whose local influence remains poorly documented in available sources.

The manor house, now in a state of ruins, was listed as historical monuments in 1996. This heritage protection underscores its historical and architectural importance, despite its current state of degradation. No additional information shall be provided on its past use or subsequent transformations, other than its mention in the official lists of protected monuments of Loire-Atlantique.

The municipality of La Limuzinière, where the house stands, is part of a territory marked by rural and seigneurial history. The noble houses like this often served as residences for aristocratic or bourgeois families, playing a central role in the local social and economic organization. Their decline, frequent since the 19th century, reflects the political and agricultural upheavals of the region.
