Origin and history
Beyssat Castle, located in Maringues in Puy-de-Dôme, is an emblematic building of the Gentle-Hommeries of Limagne in the 18th century. Built between 1749 and 1764, it is distinguished by its elongated body, its central forebody with curved doors, and its stone frames of Volvic. The broken attices pierced with skylights and the flat and round tile cover reflect local architecture, while inside, a circular staircase cage surmounted by a polygonal dome bears witness to the refinement of the era.
Interior amenities, preserved in their original condition, include Volvic slab floors, flooring ceilings, marble fireplaces and checker floors. These elements, dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, illustrate the evolution of decorative tastes. In the 19th century, the park was transformed into a landscaped area, home to remarkable trees, and complementing the harmony between architecture and nature.
The castle was listed as a historical monument by order of 10 September 2012. This protection covers the entire building, its interior features, as well as its park, including the entrance gate and orangery. These measures highlight the heritage value of the building, both for its architecture and its history, rooted in the cultural landscape of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
