Origin and history

The Château de la Cour is an emblematic monument located in the municipality of Laubrières, in the department of Mayenne, in the Pays de la Loire region. Although its exact construction period is not specified, its history is marked by events related to the French Revolution, including its national sale.

On 10 Nivôse an VI (end of December 1797), the castle was put on sale at national level, while it belonged to Mr Lefebvre de Laubrière. This property, including the seigneurial house and its estate, was finally purchased by Louise-Pélagie Lefebvre de Laubrière, wife of Urbain de Vasse, during the year V (1796-1797). This takeover illustrates the land and heritage changes of that time.

The castle of the Court is today referenced among the castles of the Mayenne, testifying to the importance of this type of heritage in the region. Its history, although partially documented, reflects local social and economic dynamics, particularly through property changes related to revolutionary events.
