Origin and history

Choloy Castle, located in the commune of Choloy-Ménillot en Meurthe-et-Moselle (Great East region), is a building built in the first half of the 19th century. This monument illustrates the aristocratic or bourgeois residential architecture of this period, marked by a concern for elegance and symmetry. Its facades, roofs, as well as some interior elements such as stairs and decorations of the ground floor rooms, reflect the aesthetic cannons of the time, often mixing neoclassicism and local influences.

Ranked Historic Monument by order of 16 November 1988, the castle enjoys a protection extended to its outbuildings and garden, including built elements such as factories or enclosure walls. This inscription highlights the heritage value of the ensemble, both for its architecture and for its park, designed according to landscape principles in vogue in the 19th century. The official address, 55 rue de Toul, and the associated GPS coordinates confirm its anchoring in the urban fabric of Choloy-Ménillot, near Nancy.

Available sources, including the Monumentum database and the Merimée data, specify that the castle is always localizable, with geographical accuracy deemed satisfactory (level 7/10). However, practical information about its current access — visits, rentals or accommodation — is not explicitly documented in the archives consulted. The Insee code of the commune (54128) permanently links the site to the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle, in the former Lorraine region.
