Origin and history

The Château de Marzé is a building located in the commune of Alix, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Although its existence is attested, the available sources do not specify its construction period or detailed history. This monument therefore remains partially mysterious for local historians.

The castles of this region, often linked to feudal history or noble families, played a central role in territorial and social organization. In Alix, as in other villages, these buildings could be used as a seigneurial residence, a place of defence or a symbol of power. Their presence generally reflected the economic and political dynamics of the time, marked by agriculture, crafts and local exchanges.
