Origin and history
Sarcus Castle, located near Grandvillers in Oise, was erected in the 16th century as an early example of art reborn in Picardia. Destroyed in 1833, his remains were acquired by Monsieur Daudin, who integrated them into his park in the form of architectural factories. The preserved elements include three arcades and a vault forming a main ensemble, as well as a reconstructed chapel in another part of the estate. A third arcade, now collapsed, sees its fragments preserved in the communes of the castle.
These ruins, classified as Historical Monument by decree of 23 November 1999, illustrate the transition between late Gothic and Renaissance. Their partial reconstruction in the 19th century reflects the romantic craze for medieval and reborn remains, while highlighting their heritage value. The site offers a unique overview of the constructive techniques and artistic taste of Picardia in the 16th century, despite the partial loss of its original structure.
The location of the castle in Pouilly (Insee code 60512) remains approximate according to available sources, with a cartographic accuracy considered poor (note 5/10). The protected remains, referred to in the cadastre under plots A 259, 260 and 277, testify to a fragile but documented heritage, accessible via GPS coordinates pointing towards 22 La Ferme de Pouilly.
