Origin and history

The Château de Mérelessart, located in the municipality of the same name in the Hauts-de-France region (former Picardie), is a historical monument whose oldest parts date back to the seventeenth century. The present building consists mainly of an 18th century central body, structured in three sections, framed by two pavilions added in the 19th century to the east and west. This mix of epochs reflects the architectural evolutions and successive adaptations of the building over the centuries.

A remarkable element remains of the first castle: a cylindrical towered dovecote built in chalk, dated precisely from 1634. This vestige illustrates the importance of dovecotes in the seigneurial domains of the time, often associated with feudal rights. The castle, registered with the Historical Monuments since 1986, protects in particular its facades, its roofs, as well as interior woodwork (lounges, dining room, billiard room), bearing witness to a preserved artistic and artisanal heritage.

The location of the castle, at 102 Rue du Parc in Mérelessart (Department of the Somme), is documented in the Mérimée base, although geographical accuracy is considered to be satisfactory a priori (level 6/10). No information is available on its current accessibility (visits, rentals, accommodation), or on any historic owners or sponsors. Sources are limited to Monumentum data and internal archives, without details of past uses or occupants of the site.
