Origin and history

Kermaria Castle is a building located in the town of Yvignac-la-Tour in the Côtes-d'Armor department of Brittany. Built on a symmetrical plane, it is distinguished by its rectangular building body, with a three-span central forebody topped by a triangular pediment. The masonry, coated, is enhanced by frames of bays and cut stone angle chains, typical of the neat constructions of this time.

Presumably erected in the 1840s, this small castle is located near the old fief de la Bouyère. At the beginning of the 20th century, it belongs to the Pollock Gore family, although the details of its acquisition or use by this family are not specified. The monument is now included in the general inventory of cultural heritage, highlighting its local architectural and historical interest.

The absence of detailed sources on its construction or occupants limits the knowledge of its exact role in regional history. However, its style and location suggest a residence of country or prestige, characteristic of bourgeois or aristocratic properties of the nineteenth century in Brittany. Its heritage inscription makes it a witness to the architectural and social evolution of this period.
