Origin and history

Château de Rognes is a building located in the commune of the same name, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Although its precise history remains little documented in the available sources, its remains attest to a seigneurial or defensive presence typical of the medieval buildings of the region. These remains, now protected, offer a fragmentary but significant architectural overview of the local past.

In the historical context of medieval Provence, castles played a central role in the territorial and social organization. They served as both aristocratic residences, strategic checkpoints and refuges for people in conflict. The region, marked by intense cultural and commercial exchanges between the Mediterranean and the hinterland, saw these buildings as symbols of power and stability.

Their decline or transformation, often linked to political or military developments, reflects the changes in Provencal society over the centuries.
