Origin and history
The Grand City Castle is a building from the 4th quarter of the 15th century, located in Brandivy, Morbihan, England. It consists of a main building in the shape of L, later completed by a wing in return to the northwest. Its architecture combines medieval elements with neo-Gothic decorations, which were added during major changes in the late 19th or early 20th century. These changes included the southern façade, the interiors, and the addition of the northwest wing.
The seigneury belonged to the family of Gouyon de la Grandville, probably at the origin of its construction. The castle was listed in the General Inventory of Cultural Heritage in 1986, then classified as Historic Monument on 14 January 2022, protecting the entire building and its landscaped park with its aisles. The associated cadastral parcels (section D) cover a vast estate around the so-called La Grand-Ville.
