Origin and history

Château Belair is an iconic monument located in the commune of Talence, in the department of Gironde, in the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Built at the extreme end of the 18th century, it consists of a main body flanked by two low wings. This castle, initially a house, became the seat of an important vineyard before being transformed into a wine estate with a broken dardian roof.

Since 6 March 2009, Belair Castle has been listed as historic monuments. This protection covers the entire castle, including its fence on Clement-Thomas Street and its two half-moon gates. The site, located at 33 rue Clément Thomas, bears witness to the architecture and wine history of the Bordeaux region.

Available sources, including Wikipedia and Monumentum, highlight its heritage importance. The castle illustrates the evolution of wine estates in Gironde, between the late eighteenth century and the nineteenth century, during which time it was modified to meet the needs of local wine production.
