Origin and history

Chambly Castle is a building located in the commune of Chambly, in the department of the Oise, in the Hauts-de-France region. Part of its park also extends over the neighbouring town of Ronquerolles, in Val-d的Oise. This present castle replaces a first building, called Petimus, which today remains only a chapel built in 1670.

In 1887, the estate was bought by Joachim Murat, 5th Prince Murat, who had the old castle destroyed to build a new one. Passionate about hunting, he added stables, commons and a small stud. The site played an important role during the two world wars: it served as an auxiliary hospital during the First World War and was then occupied by the Germans during the Second World War.

After being abandoned, the castle was bought in 1977 by Mr Simonet, who began his restoration. Since then, he belongs to his descendants. Since the 2000s, the castle and its park have been regularly used as a setting for film shoots, telefilms, music clips and television shows, becoming an emblematic place for French film heritage.

Among the on-site productions are films such as Arsène Lupin, Vidocq or Camille repeats, as well as videos such as City of Love by Mylène Farmer or Wednesday by Pierre de Maere. The castle remains today a private place, open occasionally for events or shootings.
