Origin and history

The Château Bosset is a building located in Durtal, in the department of Maine-et-Loire, in the Pays de la Loire region. Built mainly in the 15th and 17th centuries, it is distinguished by its architecture combining these two periods. The house of the 15th century, as well as the porch-pigeon and the fence wall, were inscribed in historical monuments by order of 1 July 1987. The chapel, dating from the 4th quarter of the 15th century, was classified by decree of 26 January 1989, stressing its heritage importance.

Bosset Castle illustrates the architectural and historical evolution of the Anjou region. In medieval and modern times, castles in this region were often used as seigneurial residences, while playing an economic and social role for local people. Their presence reflected the power of noble families and their integration into the rural landscape, where they organized agricultural and artisanal life.

Today, Bosset Castle is listed in the Merimée base, an inventory of the French architectural heritage. Its exact address, 10 Rue du Haras in Durtal, makes it possible to locate it precisely in the urban fabric of this Angelian municipality. Although the information on its current use (visits, rentals, accommodation) is not detailed in the available sources, its status as a historical monument makes it a key element of local and regional heritage.
