Origin and history

Alivet Castle, located in Renage in the Isère department, is an iconic building from the mid-19th century. Built in 1848, it underwent major transformations during the Second Empire, particularly in its interior design. Its walnut woodwork, present in the dining room, bears witness to the architectural refinement of the period. The park, renovated in the 19th century, preserves basins dating from the 18th century, adding a historical and landscape dimension to the estate.

The castle and its park have been protected since 1995 by an inscription in the Historic Monuments. This classification covers not only the main building, but also the surrounding green spaces, highlighting their heritage value. Although the sources do not specify its current use, its architecture and history make it a remarkable place in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

The information available indicates that the Castle of Alivet is a representative example of the bourgeois or aristocratic residences of the 19th century, marked by stylistic transformations linked to the political and social developments of the period. The Second Empire, a period of modernization and beautification of homes, has left a visible mark in its interior decors and park, where there is a blend of landscape lights and innovations.
